As a cultural and economic project, The Bread Season (Demsala Nan) makes a profound impact by centering Kurdish filmmaking practice in the Kurdish region to preserve the richness of Kurdish culture and empower local talent and artists, activating the economic, political, and cultural relevance of filmmaking within Kurdish society. We have already accomplished the most difficult part of the project by completing production in Amed (Diyarbakir) in 2022 and overcoming the restrictions on Kurdish cinema imposed by the Turkish government.
